The Savoy prefecture issued a new decree on Tuesday August 2, prohibiting the use of fireworks in Savoy until August 21. The heightened drought alert, the heat wave which scorched the vegetation, the high risk of forest fires, the concern to avoid the commitment of firefighters to these disasters when their availability may be required for personal rescue are the main reasons cited by the prefectural authority.
The ban targets fireworks sold over the counter or reserved for approved persons, ie devices of categories F1 to F4, C1 to C4, T2 and P2.
