“We continue the change” came out with a position after the official cabinet defined the gas situation for Bulgaria as “critical”.
Here is what the until recently rulers answered:
As it became clear last week, Kiril Petkov’s government negotiated new quantities of liquefied gas at prices about $30 lower than European prices. So as not to leave the cabinet facing a fait accompli with a final deal, it has provided until August 19 to confirm or reject the liquefied gas bid in case his successors in power fail to provide the necessary infrastructure or find a more reliable one. and a cheaper source of gas.
For October we already have an agreed slot, for November we also have two options – the cabinet can consider them. In April, Kiril Petkov’s government secured a liquefied gas terminal in Turkey in two weeks – the cabinet can benefit from this experience.
We appeal not to instill fear among the population and remain available to assist. The caretaker government’s priority should be to ensure reliable supplies, and colleagues should not forget that the biggest problem with Russian gas is that it can be cut off at any time.
We remind the Bulgarian society that it was not Kiril Petkov and Alexander Nikolov who stopped the supplies under the gas contract, but “Gazprom” – unilaterally and in violation of the contract with Bulgaria.
