(SPK/RT) The HOSANNA has been hanging in the belfry of the Minster for around 760 years. The three-ton bell with its dark-sounding “It” has accompanied the life of Freiburg for centuries. She is “the voice of the city”.
The exhibition “HOSANNA and the world of the bell” in the Meckelhalle in the Sparkassen-FinanzZentrum was conceived by “MEHRKLANG eV – Netzwerk für Neue Musik Freiburg” and realized by the Sparkasse Freiburg-Nördlicher Breisgau.
From August 4th to September 16th, it not only presents a lot of information about the Hosanna, the history of the bells and their production in words, pictures and sound, but also exhibits, including a 1:1 model of the HOSANNA.
The exhibition opened on Wednesday evening and will be open to the public from tomorrow, Thursday. The deputy chairwoman of the Savings Banks, Beate Schwarz, welcomed the guests, Mayor Ulrich von Kirchbach said a word of welcome on behalf of the city. Curator Renate Beuerle introduced the exhibition. The initiator of the exhibition, Bernhard Wulff, led through a special musical bell program around the HOSANNA.
