The program ‘Cinema in the village’ continues its journey through the province of Huelva. Lucena del Puerto, today, Alájar tomorrow and El Almendro next Friday will host the big screen of this initiative, with which Huelva Provincial Council brings recently released films to municipalities with fewer than 5,000 inhabitants to enjoy outdoors.

Thousands of neighbors and vacationers in the municipalities and villages that participate in the campaign are enjoying one more summer the scheduled films, designed to be shown anywhere and reaching, in some cases, places where cinema only reaches through television. A vehicle carries everything you need: projection and sound equipment, screen, movies. All you need is a power outlet and chairs for the audience to enjoy a totally up-to-date movie.

With this campaign, Diputación contributes to fill the existing gap in the province of Huelva in cultural film programming, aggravated by the absence of public or private commercial halls in the smallest municipalities and villages of the provincial territory. The Provincial Council launches the ‘Cinema in the People’ program convinced of the need to reactivate cultural activities after the break suffered due to the health crisis due to covid-19.

The Diputación makes available to the participating Town Councils the necessary technical personnel and material: films, projection and sound equipment and screen. For their part, the towns and villages provide municipal support personnel for loading and unloading, assembly and disassembly tasks, or any other need required by the technician in charge of projecting, as well as a municipal person in charge during the projection, which guarantees adequate development. of the activity.

Likewise, it adapts an outdoor space, closed in its contour; power outlet, chairs for spectators and in the event of adverse weather conditions, a closed room will be enabled. In the case of a public square or municipal park, also provide for the cutting of public lighting and vehicle traffic.

Last year, some forty municipalities and villages participated in ‘Cinema in the village’ during the summer months. The squares, terraces and public places of the less populated and less likely to enjoy the seventh art on the big screen, were the scene of the projections under the summer sky from July to the end of August.

The Provincial Council launched the ‘Cinema in the town’ campaign in the 1990s with the intention of filling the gap in cultural film programming in the province. Two years ago the program embarked on a new stage with the bittersweet taste of replacing the old 35-millimeter machine with new technologies and digital projection.
