HOUSTON – In the last few hours, health authorities in Harris County received nearly 16,000 new doses of the Monkeypox vaccine.
However, this Tuesday the Harris County Administrator, Lina Hidalgo, made a new call to the federal authorities to increase the number of doses available in the face of the growth in cases of contagion of this virus in the Houston metropolitan area.
A percentage of the vaccines allocated by the federal government go to the city of Houston and its public hospitals.
So far, the city of Houston and Harris County have reported more than 67 cases of infection within their boundaries.
In Texas, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), it has 397 identified cases of infection.
The White House has appointed two coordinators to combat the growing outbreak of monkeypox in the US.
