A new recording shows once again who the true kings of the sea are – the orcas, also known as killer or killer whales.
South Africa – What the lion is on land, the great white shark is in the water: that which is considered the most dangerous predator! But is that really true? A new recording shows once again who the true kings of the sea are – the orcas, also known as killer or killer whales.

Last week, the Discovery Channel celebrated its annual Shark Week, which features seven days of reporting almost exclusively about sharks.
In the course of this, an impressive recording of several orcas or killer whales was published, which makes it clear: the top predator in the water is not a shark, but a dolphin!
In the video shared on Instagram by marine biologist Alison Tower, two orcas can be seen circling a great white shark several meters long. Suddenly there is a commotion under the water surface, the sea foams and turns red.

A third killer whale had lacerated the shark’s belly wall and killed the cartilaginous fish. “Here is some footage of an orca hunting great whites,” Towner wrote on her post.
The recording is one of “the most incredible pieces of natural history ever captured on film. We look forward to sharing the science behind it and the rest of the interaction soon.”
But why didn’t the brutal dolphins take on easier prey and decided to attack one of the most dangerous killers of the seas?

As IFLSience reported, dead sharks have often been found with the abdomen and liver missing. Sharks need their livers to be able to swim. Other fish have a swim bladder for this.
Orcas, thought to be extremely intelligent creatures, seem to have figured this out and see the shark’s oily liver as a welcome snack.
