Ruud van Nistelrooij is confident that he will succeed with PSV on Tuesday in the important away game against AS Monaco. The trainer notices that his players are feeling good after Saturday’s win over Ajax.
PSV was 3-5 too strong for the competitor from Amsterdam in the battle for the Johan Cruijff Scale. On Monday, 22 players traveled to Monaco, where the first game in the third preliminary round of the Champions League will be played on Tuesday.
“A match like against Ajax does you good. It was a tough moment in a final against a top team. If you can present yourself like this after six weeks of preparation, it gives a boost and confidence,” says Van Nistelrooij in Monaco. ESPN.

Sávio, among others, is not there
With AS Monaco, the toughest possible opponent came out of the draw on July 18. 46-year-old Van Nistelrooij thinks that PSV is ready for the confrontation with the French number three from last season.
“The ambition is there and the challenge is there. We have analyzed the opponent and will pass that on to the players,” he says. “We know what we have to do. The will to get the most out of it again is enormous.”
Sávio is one of the PSV players who is not part of the selection. According to Van Nistelrooij, the attacker who was recruited this summer is not quite ready yet. Furthermore, the injured Olivier Boscagli, Mauro Júnior, Noni Madueke, Yorbe Vertessen and Carlos Vinícius are not yet among them.
AS Monaco-PSV starts on Tuesday at 8 p.m. The return is exactly one week later in the Philips Stadium. The winner of the diptych is in the play-offs for a ticket for the main tournament of the Champions League.
