Schiphol is letting more than 5000 passengers depart per day this month than in July. The airport will deploy 200 extra security guards in August, creating space for more travelers.

This does not solve all problems yet. Last month there were an average of 13,500 travelers too many daily, in the first week of August, these new figures mean that there are still about a thousand a day, writes. NH News.

Social agreement
Schiphol said earlier that the measures to tackle the crowds and high workload are bearing fruit for the first time. About 200 new security guards have therefore been hired and a social agreement has been concluded between Schiphol and the trade unions, including a summer allowance for employees.

Schiphol staff themselves are less optimistic about the airport’s summer plan, according to a poll conducted by the FNV trade union among Schiphol ground staff last month. At the time, 85 percent indicated that there were not enough people to carry out the work in a safe and responsible manner. 42 percent are concerned about the safety of passengers and flights.
