Jena – The state police in Jena have initiated investigations after the incidents at the DFB Cup match between FC Carl Zeiss Jena and VfL Wolfsburg, the police confirmed to the German Press Agency.

After the match on July 30, Wolfsburg football professionals are said to have been attacked and physically harassed by home fans on the way to their team bus. “We are currently investigating what happened,” police said. Videos that have become public would be investigated.

The German Football Association (DFB) had already initiated an investigation on July 31. After the incidents at VfL Wolfsburg and the players affected, the regional league apologized and announced that they would punish any misconduct. The guests had won the first round game 1-0 with a goal in added time.
