After 6 years without releasing a solo studio album, Beyoncé has released Renaissance. And as expected, she has set a new record on Spotify.

The first time we heard about RENAISSANCE was on June 16, when it was the fourth year of EVERITHING IS LOVE, a collaborative album with Jay Z. The singer published on her social networks: “act i RENAISSANCE 7.29”. Although at first glance it could be interpreted as the revival of Beyoncé herself, we believe that it refers to the revival of disco and house music.

The platform announced that on July 29, the launch day, RENAISSANCE became Spotify’s most streamed album in a single day by a female artist in 2022 so far. While Spotify didn’t share official numbers, reports indicate that it garnered a total of 43.25 million streams. Additionally, all of the album’s tracks debuted in the US Spotify top 25, with seven of them entering the top 10.

RENAISSANCE is the first entry in a trilogy of albums, which have yet to be announced. “This three-act project was recorded during the three years of the pandemic. A moment to be still, but also a moment that seemed to me the most creative. My intention was to create a safe place, a place without judgment. A place to be free from perfectionism and overthinking. A place to scream, release, feel freedom.”
