A 26-year-old man, suspected of having participated in the attack on three plainclothes police officers on July 20 in the Guillotière district in Lyon, was arrested on Saturday evening, report our colleagues from Progress. The individual, in possession of cannabis resin, was arrested as part of a police operation on Place Gabriel-Péri (in the 7th arrondissement).
The man lives in Saint-Priest, in the Lyon metropolis. Verifications are underway to confirm his participation in the attack on the police.
A first suspect imprisoned
Civil servants were attacked in the sensitive district of Guillotière on the evening of July 20, while trying to arrest a person suspected of theft. On a video posted on social networks, we can see the three police officers, two men and a woman, being beaten and thrown by projectiles in front of the entrance to a convenience store. Two of them were injured.
Visiting Lyon on Saturday, Interior Minister Gérald Darmanin met the agents and expressed his support.
A first suspect, in an irregular situation, was indicted and imprisoned on Tuesday July 26.
