The Ministry of Health Makes Sure There Are No Cases of Monkeypox in Indonesia

Jakarta: monkey pox (monkeypox) has become a new concern for the world because it has attacked a number of countries. However, until now the Ministry of Health has confirmed that the virus has not yet entered Indonesia.

He stated that the Ministry of Health’s anticipation is through good surveillance and maximum laboratory examinations. There are already 1,100 labs in Indonesia that can be used for examinations monkey pox.

“We have arrived, right? 500 reagents and we added more and there are already a thousand,” he said.

Regarding monkeypox vaccination, he continued, only in America and Russia. The vaccine is the same as the chickenpox vaccine. Only given once for a lifetime.

Previously, Health Minister Budi Gunai Sadikin asked the public to remain vigilant. He reminded that monkeypox can only be transmitted after there are symptoms of the patient.

“This (monkeypox) is only contagious if the symptoms are visible,” said Budi

Unlike COVID-19, monkeypox is transmitted through physical contact with sufferers. The virus is transmitted through fluid blisters from rashes or red patches from sufferers. Initial symptoms start from fever and feeling unwell. But it’s only suspected that it is a disease monkey pox after a red spot.

“The spots must be quickly taken for fluid for laboratory examination and diagnosis. Usually this disease can heal within two weeks to four weeks,” said Budi.
