(Elbil24): Skoda is breaking new ground in its brand new concept car Vision 7s. The designers have included the possibility of a child seat integrated into the center console – midway between the first and second row of seats.

This is demonstrated by Skoda itself in a press release.

This child seat solution is currently not available in any of the cars on the market today – neither from Skoda nor from other car brands.

Screens and backpacks

The solution is innovative and interesting, all the while Skoda is often known for being popular and a bit uncool. However, in the presentation of the new concept car, several luxurious and practical details are revealed.

The backs of the front seats are equipped with entertainment screens – to the delight of the passengers in the second and third row of seats.

The Skoda Vision 7s concept car has – as the name suggests – seven seats. This means that up to five passengers can enjoy the screens on the back of the front seats.

Whether the car will come with seven seats as standard or whether this will be optional remains to be seen. Offering a middle row of seats with only two seats is something special premium brands offer for increased comfort.

Moves the steering wheel to the side

In addition to the multimedia screens, the back of the aforementioned front seats will have integrated rucksacks, without Skoda going into more detail about whether these are typical pockets or actual rucksacks.

Regardless, the car appears spacious and practical and will come with two different modes: One for driving and one for relaxing.

In the latter mode, the steering wheel is moved to the side at the same time as the two front rows of seats are pushed backwards.

The idea is that this should give the driver and passengers a better sense of space and comfort.

– Fits Norway

It is far too early to say when – or if – a production-ready car will become available to customers. However, most of Skoda’s previous concept cars have seen the light of day.

Director Thomas Meiner in Skoda Norway says TV 2 – which has also mentioned the Vision 7s – that the car will offer flexible interior elements and completely new functions. Meiner also believes that the car will suit Norwegians well.

– We are very much looking forward to following this concept car, and seeing how it is further developed and eventually hits the Norwegian market. The functionality and spaciousness are simply a gift package for large parts of Skoda’s target group, says Meiner to TV 2.
