Austin FC outperformed Sporting Kansas City by two goals at Children’s Mercy Park | USES

Austin FC defeated Sporting KC at home this Saturday, for week 23 of the United States – MLS 2022 tournament. The goals for the visitor were made by Alexander Ring (46′ 1T) and Sebastián Driussi (44′ 2T).

Daniel Salloi missed a chance to equalize for Sporting Kansas City, failing to convert a penalty in the 62nd minute of the second half.

The best player of the match was Brad Stuver. The Austin FC goalkeeper was brilliant by saving 5 shots.

Sebastián Driussi was another of the key players. The Austin FC midfielder scored 1 goal and sought the opposite goal 5 times.

The game was highlighted by a lot of friction and constant fouls that cut the game. There were several cautioned: Julio Cascante, Daniel Pereira Gil, Cameron Duke, Maxi Urruti and Ben Sweat. Cameron Duke was sent off after receiving his second yellow card, in the 42nd minute of the first half.

Sporting KC manager Peter Vermes proposed a 4-3-3 formation with John Pulskamp in goal; Kayden Pierre, Nicolas Isimat-Mirin, Andreu Fontas and Ben Sweat on the defensive line; Felipe Hernández, Rémi Walter and Cameron Duke in the middle; and Johnny Russell, William Agada and Marinos Tzionis in attack.

For its part, Josh Wolff’s team took the field with a 4-3-3 scheme with Brad Stuver under the three sticks; Nick Lima, Julio Cascante, Ruben Gabrielsen and Jonathan Gallagher on defense; Alexander Ring, Daniel Pereira Gil and Sebastián Driussi in midfield; and Ethan Finlay, Maxi Urruti and Diego Fagúndez up front.

Fotis Bazakos was the referee who officiated the match at Children’s Mercy Park.

Sporting KC’s next game in the championship will be at home against the LA Galaxy, while Austin FC will host the San José Earthquakes.
