Since the start in 2018, Air Belgium has flown a total of four Airbus A340-300s, which came from Finnair and were leased from Airbus Financial Services, the lease arm of the aircraft manufacturer. They have since been replaced by two more modern Airbus A330-900s.
The aircraft that are now going to Legend Airlines were registered with Air Belgium as OO-ABD and OO-ABB at the time. They have obtained the Romanian registrations YR-LRC and YR-LRB.
Little else is known about Legend Airlines, except that according to Boardingpass.ro they received their AOC last year and want to start shortly. Vacancies were also posted for A340 pilots earlier this year. The start-up’s site is blacked out.
The other two Air Belgium A340s went to the Maltese charter company Airhub. One of these can now be seen several times a week at Schiphol, because this aircraft has been hired by the SLM for the flight operation between Amsterdam and Paramaribo.
As can be seen below, the livery at Legend Airlines has remained largely the same. However, the black has been replaced by blue, so that the colors represent the Romanian flag instead of the Belgian one:
Legend Airlines’ first Airbus A340 has been painted. It will be registered in #Romania ca YR-LRC.
