Transfer hit in Ekstraklasa. Rafał Augustyniak signed a contract with Legia Warszawa!

Rafał Augustyniak signed a contract with Legia Warszawa after the expiry of the contract with Urzał Yekaterinburg. The midfielder had played in Russia in recent years, but after the war broke out, he wanted to leave the country. The former player of Miedzi Legnica can also play in the defense line, which is crucial for Legia. The team is weakened after the transfer of Mateusz Wieteska and the weaker form of the central defenders.

– Rafał Augustyniak’s transfer is one of the club’s most important decisions in the summer transfer window. We have acquired a player with a strong mental sphere and the personality of a leader on the pitch and in the dressing room, who will give confidence and stability to the team. Rafał has these features, he is also distinguished by very good motor skills and can play in two positions: defensive midfielder or central defender. I expect that its characteristics will help us achieve better results this season – said Jacek Zieliński, sports director of Legia.

Zieliński was certainly of great importance during the midfielder’s transfer, because the gentlemen had already met during their joint work in Wigry Suwałki. It was there that the footballer developed and worked to move to Miedzi Legnica, which was then promoted to PKO BP Ekstraklasa.

The player is to play for Legia for the next three seasons, although the club has the option to extend the contract for one more year. The footballer will play with the number 8.

Nevertheless, the deserved youth coach and educator can still be found in the stands of the stadium in Gdynia – he comes to matches and his friends tell him what is happening on the pitch. In “X-ray”, the guardian of gold medalists of the European Championships from years ago talks about learning a new life and setting the head at such an angle that the number of an oncoming trolleybus can be seen at the stop.
