Looks like TikTok is planning a set up your own music streaming service. In the United States, the company is called “TikTok Music” traded market.
It is an app that allows users to purchase and download music. It will also be possible to compose your own playlist, to respond to songs and to livestream audio and video yourself.
The company behind TikTok, ByteDance, already has its own music streaming service: Resso. Resso is only active in India, Brazil and Indonesia, but has already been downloaded about 184 million times. An ex-ByteDance employee told TechCrunch that an international launch of the app, as TikTok Music, has been considered before.
TikTok videos have had quite a few songs on the US Billboard Top 100 in recent years thrown in, which brought in additional revenue for companies like Spotify and YouTube. TikTok Music could be a way for ByteDance to take advantage of itself.
