A heat wave is currently rolling through Europe. Every day we are reminded of the effects of climate change. 15 graphics tell the story of a global failure.

In the Sunday speeches, the political leaders give the impression that they have read the signs of the times on climate change.

Ursula von der Leyen says:

“Therefore, I call on all of us to do everything we can now to limit global warming to 1.5 degrees Celsius. And we can do it, because climate change is man-made, science tells us, so we can do something about it.”

And also Olaf Scholz – at that time still working as finance minister – was willing to act:

Man-made climate change is one of the future tasks that lie ahead of us. Now it’s 5 to 12 and we have to act.
