Last season, Watford finished in the penultimate 19th place in the English Premier League with our Juraj Kuck in the lineup, which meant relegation by one competition. The statistics spoke volumes. Watford footballers have won only six matches for the entire season, while they have tasted the taste of defeat up to 27 times.
The situation in the Watford cabin has been publicly criticized in recent days by football player Dan Gosling, who did not like, for example, the arrival of Slovakian Juraj Kucka, who for him represented competition in the midfield:
“The club signed Kucka. This is a player who has played at the highest level in Italy but has never played in England. He didn’t know any of the local players, but he got straight into the team anyway. And now he plays at home in Slovakia.”
However, Dan Gosling spoke negatively about the work of two experienced coaches – Claudio Ranieri and Roy Hodgson. It was these two respected personalities who coached “The Hornets” during the last season.
“It was really all about nothing during Ranieri’s stay on the bench. The whole training process was worthless and the atmosphere the coaching staff created in the cabin was appalling. It was miserable. I was personally surprised that Ranieri and his coaching staff lasted four months in their positions.
I have been working in the football environment for some time now, but the period under coach Ranieri was one of the worst in my career,” said openly for Watford Observer And Gosling.
The Brixham native also criticized the training methods used by Claudio Ranieri. Every day, the entire team reportedly had to play five-on-five practice matches, which took up most of the time allocated to preparing for competitive duels.

IT WAS THE WORST TEAM I’VE BEEN A PART OF
But Dan Gosling was not satisfied even with the new coach – Roy Hodgson, whom we are talking about Watford Observer expressed as follows:
“In the case of Roy, the drills were constantly repeated in training, but at least they were situations that could also take place in a competitive match. But it needed a little change, a little variety. After all, we are already in 2022.”
But according to Dan Gosling, it wasn’t just about the coaches. An important factor why the team did not succeed was allegedly the reluctance of the players to fight for the club colors.
“Some players should be ashamed of their attitudes. There was a negative and embarrassing atmosphere in the team and that is the real reason why we were relegated in the end. It was not a matter of ability and potential.
Yes, some footballers may not have reached the level of which they are capable, but in the final showdown it was all decided by commitment and desire, which was clearly lacking in the cabin. It was truly embarrassing and I can say with certainty that it was the worst team I have ever been a part of.” concludes for Watford Observer And Gosling.
