Sony warns: we sell less PlayStation games

Sony has its expectations revised downwards for 2022. The company warns that Sony’s PlayStation games are likely to bring in less money. Compared to last year, fewer PlayStation exclusive games will be released this year. The company also sees that people have started playing less anyway.-

This year exclusive titles such as Grand Touring 7 in Horizon Forbidden West. But about that time, the popular Elden Ringwhich was playable not only on the PlayStation console, but also on Xbox and PC.

Sony shipped about 2.4 million PlayStation 5 consoles in the past quarter. That is 4 percent more compared to the same quarter last year. In total, more than 21.7 million copies have been sold since the release of the PS5 in November 2020.

Thanks to the increase in PlayStation sales, Sony managed to turn over a turnover of 17 billion euros. This resulted in a net profit of 1.6 billion euros.

Sony is less positive about the rest of the year. The decline in game sales is expected to continue. The company has also spent money by, for example, buying game studio Bungie, the publisher of space shooter Destiny. The exclusive PlayStation game will be released later this year God of War Ragnarök.
