Plovdiv youth from the student VMRO ask several questions to the city administration regarding the unfortunate fate and possible future of the city zoo:
“This year the tourist site EuropeanBestDestinations ranked our city fourth among the best tourist destinations on the old continent. The second largest city in Bulgaria is undoubtedly a suitable place for all tourists, as the city can offer amazing places for both walks and recreation. However, one of the biggest attractions for Plovdiv residents and all visitors to the city – the Plovdiv Zoo, in which, unfortunately, at this stage the animals can only be stuffed, as it was temporarily closed for renovations for nearly 14 years.
Since 2008, the second largest city in Bulgaria has been without a zoo, and the worst part is that even the people of Plovdiv do not know what is happening with it. In this regard, as interested young people, we want to direct our questions to the rulers of our city.
Does the municipality of Plovdiv consider it important to inform the citizens what has been happening with the zoo for 14 years now?
Does the municipality of Plovdiv have intentions and a plan for future actions?
Will there ever be a functioning zoo in Plovdiv?
How much did it cost in total to passively maintain the place without actually using it?
These are all questions to which the people of Plovdiv have not received an answer for nearly 14 years. With them, we aim to cause a response in society and give publicity to what is happening. Hopefully soon Plovdiv will have its own active zoo”.
