European gas price at new record as Russia continues to close tap. What about next winter? “We will make it until January. But after that?” | Money

After the gas price went through the ceiling of 200 euros per megawatt hour for the first time since March 7 on Tuesday evening, the race to the top continued on Wednesday. It fell before noon all-time record on the European gas exchange and the price peaked at more than 222 euros, an absolute record and an increase of more than 25 percent in just two days. To give you an idea: at the beginning of 2021, a year and a half ago, the European gas price was still below 20 euros per megawatt hour. This is therefore more than a tenfold increase in a year and a half.
