Suchitepéquez, Jul 26 (AGN).- More than 200 elementary and basic students from the La Línea B-6 community, San José La Maquina, Suchitepéquez, will carry out their activities in better environments thanks to the expansion of the local school.
In addition to the total renovation of the building, seven classrooms, six toilets and a hand washing station were built. The new classrooms were also furnished with furniture.

It is a project developed by the organization Pencils of Promise, which has already executed another 68 works of this type in the municipality. Representatives of that entity, local authorities and the head of the Ministry of Education (Mineduc), Claudia Ruíz, participated in the inauguration of the facilities.
The educational community expressed its gratitude for prioritizing the optimization of the establishment and presented cultural acts as a sample of the skills that children develop in the place. The school houses 155 primary school students and 49 from the telesecundaria institute.

strengthen alliance
The minister thanked the cooperating entity for its commitment to educational quality and highlighted the importance of the existing alliance between both institutions to strengthen the teaching-learning process.
Seeking to continue with these actions, Ruíz and the national director of Pencils of Promise, Jorge Caal Bolón, signed an inter-institutional cooperation agreement.
This will allow to continue the coordination of strategies and execution of programs for the infrastructure improvement in primary and pre-primary. In addition, it contemplates water, sanitation and school furniture projects.

Both signatories expressed their satisfaction at the signing of the commitment and reaffirmed their interest in providing quality education to children. Ruíz recalled that the creation of better pedagogical environments is a priority for the government of the president Alejandro Giammattei.
