Georgi Naumov died at the age of 80 – perhaps the best non-professional actor in Bulgarian cinema. He was born on September 11, 1941 in Sofia. Even as a child, he starred in the film “The Traces Remain”, in which he co-starred with his almost the same age, Stefcho Danailov. His character’s name is Charlie, and that name stays with him for life.
Georgi Naumov did not graduate from VITIZ, but continued to act in the cinema. He played small roles in The Oath of Hajduška and Stars, a film scripted by Angel Wagenstein, which won the Special Jury Prize at the 1959 Cannes Film Festival.
In 1960, the film “First Lesson” was released, in which Pesho is Romeo from a working-class neighborhood in Sofia, and his Juliet is Violetta, a student from a model high school. Their love shows the collision of two worlds – the poor and the rich. Kornelia Bojanova in the role of Violetta is also a non-professional actress, but director Rangel Valchanov turns Valeri Petrov’s script into an extremely strong and wise film.
After only two years, the tandem Petrov-Valchanov created a new masterpiece – “The Sun and the Shadow”. In it, Georgi Naumov is the boy, and the girl is the Polish Anna Prutsnal. The film won many Bulgarian awards, as well as prizes from world festivals in Karlovy Vary, San Francisco, Moscow, Melbourne, Los Alamos, etc.
The directors of forget Georgi Naumov, he starred in the films “At the end of the summer”, “On the sidewalk”, “Running on the waves”, “Scorpion against the rainbow” and others. In the famous movie “Whale” is the telegraph operator who reports the fish catch of the ship “Perun”.
Then new generations of actors entered the cinema, and in the mid-1980s, Georgi Naumov could be seen as the manager of the grocery store, which was located on the ground floor of the building where the “Support” trade union is now located.
