The small family of three and a couple of friends packed their things, put on their seat belts and drove around Denmark and Sweden, for a total of three weeks. However, they had several stays away from the van life, with a few nights at Airbnb.
Skolmen has received several questions about what it’s like to holiday with a small baby in a van from his followers on Instagram.
– I grew up with an old folk van myself, and even went on holiday in a van when I was a baby. So I have not thought of it as strange, but I have realized that many people think it is and wonder how to do it, says Skolmen to Dagbladet.
Now the family has returned to Oslo and the actor can confirm that the van holiday works well – even with a small baby.

– It’s amazing what you can achieve. We really only aimed to sleep one night in the van, but we actually slept six nights in the van, says Skolmen.
Nevertheless, she noticed a few things during the family trip.
– The main problem was that we couldn’t get into the habit after we had put Jon to bed, she says and explains that they had to plan well what they needed for the evening.
However, there were no major problems, but Skolmen adds that it is important to travel to places where it is not too hot, and that you have opportunities to ventilate the car.
She also advises to take it easy and not think you have to achieve everything.
– Better choose fewer stops and set up camp, she says and advises that it’s nice to be near a small town if you can’t bear to cook every night.
This is not the first time Skolmen and Aspeflaten are on a van holiday. The duo have actually gone on a drive every summer since they got together just over four years ago.
– It’s the best way to travel. If it’s somewhere you feel comfortable, you can stay longer, or if you find something nice on the way, you can change your plans.
Although the couple have both traveled around Spain and France by van, Denmark and Sweden top the list.
– There is so much fun along the roads in Sweden and Denmark. Flea market, sale of fresh farm eggs and other markets.
This year they stopped in Stockholm, Strömstad, Apelviken in Sweden, and Copenhagen and Helsingør in Denmark, among others.

Moving abroad
Even though the van holiday is over for this year, it won’t be long before the little family goes on a trip again.
In the autumn, they will move first to Sweden and then to California in the USA, specifically Laguna Beach.
The plan for the trip is simply to relax and just enjoy life.
– We have saved up money and are taking some leave there, says Skolmen, who is looking forward to the time ahead.
In Sweden, the actor will work a bit, but when the family arrives in California, relaxation is the focus. The family will return to Norway in December.
