More than 14 million euros have been invested in the “Forpet Baltic” food packaging factory in Ventspils

The implementation of the project of the environmentally friendly food packaging production company “Forpet Baltic” in Ventspils Freeport started in May 2021. The total amount of investment in the project is already more than 14 million euros, and “Forpet Baltic” is currently the largest investment project in Ventspils. Although the production plant is still under construction, it already has 50 employees. These are both office and production workers who learn to work on the new equipment already in the process of testing it.

Currently, the main technical equipment has already been purchased and installed, and testing of the equipment has begun. The first trial products have already been tested and praised by customers. At the same time, the company has started work on the next stage of development and the purchase of additional equipment, which could double sales and increase the number of employees to 160.

The main production of the company will be coffee cups, their caps and other, mainly food-related packaging from recycled PET. In addition, the new technology allows the product to be recycled an unlimited number of times.

SIA “Ostas celtnieks” is building the 6,300 square meter production building in the Ventspils High Technology Park “Forpet Baltic” by order of the Ventspils Freeport Authority. The grand opening of the new factory could take place in the second half of the year after all works are completed.

The main investor of “Forpet Baltic”, developer of various innovation projects, Davids Jakobashvili, will talk with Investment and development agencies of Latviahas expressed his readiness to seriously consider the development of other investment projects in this region to the representatives of the Ventspils municipality and the Ventspils Freeport Authority.

“Forpet Baltic” was registered in April 2021, the share capital of the company is 2,800 euros. The owner of the company is the Luxembourg company “Forpet Sa rl”, but the real beneficiary is the Swedish citizen Davids Jakobashvili.

Since 2002, in the industrial territory of Ventspils Freeport, investing more than 50 million euros, 11 production buildings have been built by order of Ventspils Freeport and more than 20 production companies have been attracted, creating more than 1,700 new jobs.
