After the fire in an excavator and the spread to stored logs on Tuesday, emergency services from the fire brigade, the rescue service and the police are currently on duty in a sawmill on Fabrikstrasse.
At around 12:15 p.m., the control centers were informed about the excavator’s fire, which subsequently spread to around 50 logs, a four-metre-high wooden retaining wall and the embankment of the adjacent railway line.
According to the current state of knowledge, a firefighter was slightly injured by smoke gases and taken to a clinic by helpers from the rescue service.
Post-extinguishing work is currently being carried out on the logs.
According to previous investigations, a technical defect is assumed to be the possible cause of the fire.
The total damage to wood and excavator is currently estimated at around 450,000 euros.
The railway line is currently still closed due to extinguishing work.
