Former Real Madrid player and coach Santiago Solari, who faces Real Madrid with his Mexican club, has paid tribute to Carlo Ancelotti.
Real Madrid and Mexican side Club America are set to face off in San Francisco, and the two teams are the newest on Santi Solari’s CV. The Argentinian speaks freely, he who spoke with BRAND before the game to reflect on his past at the Santiago Bernabeu stadium and praise Carlo Ancelotti.
Solari evokes Vinicius
“With Ancelotti, I just listened. I don’t know him very well, I met him a few times, probably when I was [entraîneur] in the youth team and that he was in the first team. I have a lot of affection for him and he is a man of great wisdom. I would like to listen to it.”
Solari, former Real Madrid Castilla manager, also spoke about Vinicius, one of his former foals: “There is a feeling of pride towards a player who you think if you had 0.5 or 1% credit. But the great merit, as for Valverde, Reguilon, Llorente…, is the club, its recruitment departments, the facilities it gives to the players. The other great merit goes to the players. If there’s a little bit of me in what Vinicius has done, in the way he knocks on doors and wins people’s hearts, it’s wonderful, very nice.“
