After its premiere at Garaje Lola, MARÍA CALLAS SFOGATO jumps to the Infanta Isabel Theater in Madrid for only four performances from July 28 to 31. The work written by Pedro Víllora and directed by Alberto Frías will feature a cast led by Mabel Del Pozo (María), Anabel Maurin (Bruna) and Eva Marco (Callas), accompanied on piano by Natalia Belenova.
The scenery is by Juan Sebastián Domínguez, the costumes by Sabina Atlanta and the lighting by Enrique Toro.
In the words of Pedro Víllora, author of the work: “María Callas is, even today, the most famous singer in the world. This is an intimate show that shows us a vulnerable woman, harassed by the press and admirers, but also a major artist, without limits and invincible, as is typical of a sfogato soprano.”
Alberto Frías, director of the work and co-founder of SingUS together with Eva Marco, who participates in the performance as an interpreter, comments that this work “is intended to be a musical celebration that extols the unique icon that was María Callas, which will show a real María, without traps and cameras in between, a Maria who sees Callas from afar and admires her and apologizes for her life lived”.
