Samsung recently confirmed the launch date for its new generations of foldable screen smartphones, the Galaxy Z Fold 4 and Z Flip 4. The Unpacked is scheduled for August 10. This should also be the occasion for the South Korean manufacturer to present its new connected watches.
A more affordable Galaxy Watch 5, a more expensive Pro
While the Galaxy Watch 5 are the subject of strong rumors as they approach their officialization, their sale price is on the run. It was indeed revealed before the hour by dealntech.com. The information site indicates in this respect that the Galaxy Watch 5 of 40 mm in Bluetooth version should be marketed at 213.10 euros HT, against 235.16 euros HT for the 44 mm version. For comparison, the Galaxy Watch 4 Bluetooth 40 mm is available at 224 euros excluding tax, a very slight drop in the expected price.
The Galaxy Watch 5 Pro version, which is similar to the Galaxy Watch 4 Classic, would be offered according to dealntech at 353 euros excluding tax, while the current model is marketed in 42 mm at 282 euros excluding tax.
New features and extended autonomy
At this stage, Samsung has not yet confirmed any features for its new generation of smartwatches. Only WearOS 3 code confirmed that the series would consist of three models, including a standard 40mm, another 44mm, as well as a 45mm Pro variant.
According to rumors from Evan Blass and 91mobiles, the latter should establish itself as the successor to the Galaxy Watch 4 Classic. It would abandon the rotating bezel, yet iconic on Samsung’s high-end connected watches. It should also be more robust with its sapphire crystal and titanium dial.
The entire range should also feature a new temperature sensor. For several months, this technology has been the subject of heated debate and it was not certain until then that it would land this year on the connected watches of the South Korean manufacturer. An update to the Samsung Health app recently confirmed such a breakthrough would be on the cards.
In addition, the Galaxy Watch 5 and 5 Pro should be equipped with larger batteries, for better autonomy. The accumulators would also support a faster charge (10 W against 5 W currently on the Galaxy Watch 4).
All these points being at this stage only rumors and leaks, meet on August 10 to discover this new range, its design, its characteristics, as well as its selling prices.
