The FIFA series is one of the most successful video game series in the world. The first part, FIFA International Soccer, was published in 1993. Since then, the American manufacturer Electronic Arts, together with its Canadian developing subsidiary EA Sports, has released a new version of the game every year. By 2021 were after press releases Selling 325 million copies, FIFA 21 was the most successful game in the series with 31 million sales. Now the last game in the series is coming up – with lots of new features and two World Cup modes.

More women’s football

With FIFA 16, women’s football moved into the successful video game series in 2016 after popular demand. 12 national teams were available at that time. FIFA 23 will play the Women’s World Cup, which will take place next year in Australia and New Zealand, as well as the top divisions from Great Britain and France – the Barclays FA Women’s League and the French top division Division 1 Arkema. FIFA 23 is introducing women’s club football for the first time in its history. In addition to the Women’s World Cup, FIFA 23 will also offer the Men’s World Cup in Qatar as a separate mode.

The ball in the crosshairs

In terms of gameplay, EA Sports has already given first hints about the new game. This is how the HUD – head-up display – shows itself in a new design: With a crosshair we can steer the shot in standard situations such as corners, free kicks, etc. So-called power shots, which enable particularly powerful shots on goal, are also new. This week, EA Sports plans to release more information and gameplay updates.

The real Mbappé

In 2021, EA Sports introduced Hypermotion technology. For this, the real players were put in full body suits, their individual movements were recorded with countless sensors and transferred to the game. The result: significantly more realism in the movements of the players, such as that of the French megastar Kylian Mbappé. FIFA 23 plans to extend this technology to more players – EA Sports announces “6,000 lifelike football animations”. These may also no longer only be offered for console players, but also for PC players.

The EA Sports reveal trailer has already been viewed around four million times:
