The damage could have been much worse had the other two missiles not been shot down by the Ukrainian air defense systems.
The Russian Ministry of Defense on Sunday (24/7) local time admitted its attack on Odesa had destroyed a military ship Ukraine and weapons supplied by the United States (US).
“High-precision long-range missiles from the ocean destroyed a Ukrainian warship anchored and a supply of anti-ship missiles delivered by the United States to the Kiev regime,” the Russian Defense Ministry said in a statement.
“A repair and upgrading plant for the Ukrainian military was also damaged,” the statement added.
