JAKARTA – There are at least two new features that are being developed by WhatsApp, namely a feature that can hide online status and a feature to save temporary messages.
Quoted from Between, Sunday (24/7), the online status hiding feature was found in the beta version of WhatsApp for Android 2.22.16.12. A few weeks earlier, the instant messaging platform was also testing the feature for iOS devices.
The online status will be visible when the user is opening the instant messaging application. In this feature being tested, users can set whether they want to appear online when opening the app.
WhatsApp provides two options for this privacy setting, i.e. everyone can see when they are online or the same as the last time seen or “same as last seen“.
If the user selects the same setting as last seen, the user can set him or her not to be seen while online. To do this, select the no one option (nobody) on the choice of who can see when they last opened WhatsApp, the user will not be online when opening the application.
WhatsApp also gives a note if you choose no one can see your online status and last seenthen he also can not see the status of other users.
The second feature that the application belongs to Meta Platforms is developing is storing temporary messages or often referred to as “kept message“.
Users can set temporary messages (disappearing message), which will disappear within a certain period, can be viewed as a normal message.
Temporary messages can be saved, this feature applies to group chats.
WhatsApp restricts only group administrators from enabling this feature. WhatsApp will create a new section to view saved temporary messages. All group members will be able to see the saved messages.
Keep in mind these features are currently being tested and only available through the beta app. It is not yet known whether this feature will be rolled out and when it will be available to general users.
