This appearance should have been one of the hardest in his career for superstar Robbie Williams (48). At the “Night of Discovery” gala in south-eastern France, the 48-year-old appeared in front of around 500 guests and spoke in very personal terms about the dangers of mental health problems. The performance, in which he was accompanied by his wife Ayda Field (43), was visibly difficult for him and, according to “bild.de”, the star withdrew to the hotel immediately after the event.

Robbie Williams is open about his mental health issues
Williams initially revealed that he suffered from ADHD, depression and other neurological disorders. He was “afraid of social situations like tonight”. Literally, the singer added: “I’ve left the house but I’m not feeling well. I’d rather stay isolated, which is really bad for me. I have obsessive compulsions, microphobia and I’m an alcoholic. I’m an addict. “

Taking place does not protect against mental illness
Robbie Williams, once a member of the successful boy band “Take That” and also a world star as a solo artist, made it clear that success and fame do not protect against psychological problems. “Being famous and successful doesn’t free you.” In fact, it could actually aggravate the problems many are struggling with. Williams: “For far too long we have stigmatized and tabooed a disease that literally billions of us experience every day.”

The concert series is intended to draw attention to the intolerable situation
One of the goals of the event is to do more for mental health. This is to be achieved, among other things, with a global concert series under the motto “MIND AID”. Robbie Williams explains: “We want to show the world that it’s okay not to be okay. (…) We all deserve to be happy and I’m happy that I can do my part through music .”
