Friday night at At 9 p.m., the police responded to a report of a threatening situation on the 3rd floor of the Galleriet shopping centre. There was talk of verbal threats against a security guard during the period when the center was to be closed.
The first report from the police indicated that it was dramatic.
– We considered the threats to be of such a nature that we armed ourselves, while the guards pulled away, said incident leader Casper Kaland in the police to BA on Friday evening.
Put in custody
The police isolated the man in a toilet. After some persuasion, he came out and surrendered without drama.
The man, who is known to the police, was taken into custody where he stayed overnight. The police would then consider whether he should be produced for remand the following day.
The following day, the police chose to release him.
– The case is being investigated further by the Bergen city center investigation unit, but the man has been released from police custody, says duty police attorney Dyweke Gjermundrød in the West police district to BA on Saturday evening.
She states that the prosecutor in the case is police attorney Andreas F. Haldorsen.
