According to a spokeswoman for KLM, it concerns a ‘large number’ of suitcases that still have to be sent. The airline does not provide exact figures. “Part of it has been sent back and we are doing our utmost to get the other suitcases to the passengers as soon as possible.”

On Wednesday, a problem arose with Schiphol’s baggage system. A day later, KLM decided that travelers transferring at Schiphol between two European destinations could not check in checked baggage. This had to provide space to be able to send as many suitcases as possible that had been left behind as a result of the malfunction.

Yesterday it was possible for all KLM passengers to check in baggage again. KLM emphasized that the baggage system is not managed by the airline itself.
Mountains with suitcases
Schiphol has been struggling with various problems for months. There are serious staff shortages in the security and baggage department.
