This Saturday afternoon, in Place Marceau, around the giant sarcastic poster indicating “Bienvenue chez Le Gaulois”, activists hold shocking images of intensive chicken farms, and invite passers-by to sign the petition inciting the LDC group
the French number 1 in chicken, owner of the brands Le Gaulois, Maître Coq and Marie, to join the European chicken commitment, which consists in eradicating the worst practices of raising and slaughtering chickens.

“We had already carried out a first action last March, but since LDC has still not adhered to the charter, we are doing it again”, announces Paul Teigné-Soulignac, activist of the L214 association.

The activists give passers-by a deliberately shocking brochure on which is written in red letters: “Operation open doors in the reality of the Gaulois farms”
The A4-format leaflet states: “The life of a chicken fits on one page”, thus alerting to the crowding of chickens in dark and unsanitary farms.

“We also denounce the genetic selection of chickens which aims to make them grow too fast. They have the bodies of adults and the heads of chicks,” adds Paul Teigné-Soulignac.
“We just inform people who then decide how they want,” says an activist.
“Signatures are flooding in, which shows a problem that affects consumers,” notes Paul Teigné-Soulignac.
