The Grande Braderie de Strasbourg (Bas-Rhin), returns on July 30, 2022, after two years of absence. Between 7:30 a.m. and 7:30 p.m., up to 100,000 Strasbourg residents are expected on the big island.
“We hope that the atmosphere will be good and that people will do good business,” explains Pierre Bardet, general manager of Vitrines de Strasbourg, in charge of organizing the event.
The Big Island closed to traffic, free transport
“The big sale will occupy the entire city center”, continues Pierre Bardet. The entire Big Island will therefore be closed to traffic during the event.
For the occasion, the CTS announces that its network will be free on July 30 all day. Buses and trams therefore, but also the relay car parks located in several places on the outskirts of the city center.
More than 550 traders in the streets
If the big sale could not be held in 2020 or 2021, between 550 and 600 professional traders will be present for the 2022 edition.
“There are the sedentary merchants of Strasbourg, the itinerant people who will be there for the occasion, and the second-hand goods dealers”, details Pierre Bardet.
Entertainment to punctuate the day
At noon, Place Gutenberg, a concert by the traditional Perle orchestra will liven up the sale. It will be itinerant throughout the afternoon and will reason in several other places in the city.
A comedy show is also announced: a very special character will go to Place Gutenberg at midday. “We really need humor at the moment”, believes Pierre Bardet: “Even if we know that it can be difficult for a clearance sale when it has not taken place for several years, life must resume”.
