Screenwriters and artists interviewed by THR explain how the company’s compensation system allows them to reduce payments, by classifying certain appearances in the films as “cameos”. And according to a report, “if a character appears for less than 15% of the screen time, it is considered a cameo and therefore its creators receive less money”. This applies to Captain Americawhich appeared for less than seven minutes and 30 seconds over the two hours and 39 minutes ofInfinity War.
Comparison and explanations of compensation
Some fans had criticized, in the past, Captain America’s lack of screen time in Infinity War compared to previous Avengers movies. However, overall, Infinity War was an overwhelming critical and commercial success, as it weaved a cohesive narrative, and featured an unprecedented number of characters.
