Ukraine, Russia, Turkey and UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres will sign an agreement to continue wheat export Black Sea Ukraine. The deal will be done today.
Reported by Reuters, Friday (22/7/2022), Russia and Ukraine are both major global wheat suppliers. But the impact of Russia’s February 24 invasion of its neighbors has sent food prices soaring and sparked an international food crisis.
The war has halted Kyiv’s exports, left dozens of ships stranded and about 20 million tonnes of grain trapped in silos in the port of Odesa.

Ankara said a general agreement was reached on the UN-led plan during talks in Istanbul last week and would now be put in writing by the parties. The details of the agreement are not yet known.
The deal will be signed on Friday at the Dolmabahce Palace office at 1330 GMT, Erdogan’s office said. There has been no confirmation of a deal from Moscow or Kyiv.
Prior to last week’s talks, diplomats had detailed the deal: the rules for Ukrainian ships to guide grain ships in and out of the waters of mined ports; Russia agrees to a ceasefire as shipments move; and Turkey – backed by the United Nations – inspected the ship to dispel Russian fears of arms smuggling.
The United States welcomed the deal and said it was focused on holding Russia accountable for implementing it.
“We should never have been in this position in the first place,” said State Department spokesman Ned Price. “This is a deliberate decision on the part of the Russian Federation to arm food.”
