Facebook will change now — and wants to be more like TikTok
The changes start arriving this Thursday, to your feed.

The plan is drawn up by Mark Zuckerberg and aims to change the way Facebook users interact with the platform. The change begins, right away, with changes to the main feed, where, in addition to posts from friends and the pages that follow, there will also be suggestions for posts from strangers.
The purpose of the social network is to promote “the discovery of new content” with people who may be interested in them. Many of the changes have been characterized as Facebook’s intention to tackle the TikTok phenomenon directly.
The changes, according to the company, should start to be applied from this Thursday, July 21. To compensate for this increase in publications from strangers, Facebook will create its own feed only for content shared by the pages it follows and by those who are part of the friends list.
“Home will be uniquely personalized for you”, explains the Facebook blog. “It uses a system that takes into account thousands of signals that help to remove what does not matter and to prioritize the content that we think will be more valuable.”
With a reduction in users and in an attempt to attract younger people, Zuckerberg then seeks to replicate some of the elements that helped TikTok become one of the networks of the moment. Among them is precisely the greater promotion of content by strangers, in order to try to increase user interaction.
In June, TikTok surpassed the billion users barrier, a goal reached in just four years. Although Facebook has close to three billion, data indicates that users spend an average of 29 hours per month on the app, in contrast to 16 hours for Facebook users.
