Russia, Ukraine and Turkey will sign an agreement on grain exports, Ankara announced

The signing of the agreement is to be attended by UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres, who previously announced that he was heading to Istanbul on Thursday. Turkish President Erdogan will also be present at the signing. The ceremony is scheduled to take place at Dolmabahçe Palace at 13:30 GMT (15:30 CEST).

20 to 25 million tons of grain are blocked in Ukrainian ports because of the war started by Russia. At the same time, its supplies are key for a number of countries in the Middle East and Africa.

Ukraine claims that Russia is deliberately blocking Black Sea ports and stealing Ukrainian grain. Moscow, on the other hand, blames Kiev. According to her, Ukraine has not yet demined its coast, so grain transportation is not safe. Kyiv refuses to mine the ports because it fears that the Russian military will then attack Ukraine’s Black Sea coast.
