The famous story of Antoine de Saint-Exupéry will be told by the musicians of the Liepāja Symphony Orchestra – flautist Reinis Lapa, oboist Mārtiņš Zālīte, clarinetist Kārlis Catlaks, bassoonist Lindsija Davison and horn player Ingus Novicāns together with trumpeter Mārtis Zuja and actor Erika Wilson. The scenography of the performance is made by Varis Siliņš.
“In this concert performance, we want to create one small childhood memory for parents and one big fantasy adventure for children,” says composer Andris Vecumnieks, “We are all children, regardless of age, and when we are children, we want to grow up as quickly as possible, but when we are adults, we want to be children again.”
“In my opinion, it’s never too late to return to childhood, in the right sense – to feel like a child, to live like a child, to perceive the whole surrounding world as a child – this is such a fresh point of view and we want to convey it to our viewers,” adds actor Eric Wilson.
“The Little Prince” by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry is a poetic story about a plane pilot who crash-lands in the desert and meets a little boy who has fallen to Earth from a small asteroid. The story is philosophical and includes a critique of society while reflecting on the oddities of the adult world. Although the story is presented as a children’s book, “The Little Prince” gave adult readers several revelations about human nature.
We would like to remind you that on July 30, the Liepāja Symphony Orchestra’s “Sounds of Liepāja in Rundāle Palace” festival will take place in Rundāle Palace, which this year will offer visitors four different events with a single thematic motif “Ball in the Palace”.

The Liepāja Symphony Orchestra and conductor Ainārs Rubiķis invite you to the concert “Ball through the Centuries” in the Golden Hall of Rundāle Palace, but at the climax of the festival, a night concert is expected in the French Garden of Rundāle Palace, where the Liepāja String Quartet, led by Liepaja Symphony Orchestra’s concertmaster Ligas Baltābola, will play together with the outstanding clarinetist and the emerging orchestra. chief conductor Gunti Kuzma.
