The Savoyard psychiatric hospital is sick: exhausted staff, persistence of Covid-19, cascading sick leave, bed closures for lack of human resources… Like other French public establishments, the specialized hospital center (CHS) of Savoie is in pain.
With the closure of a 25-bed unit this summer, it was the straw that broke the camel’s back for the CGT of the CHS, which wrote to the Minister of Health, François Braun, to demand additional resources.
“In six years, the CHS has lost 100 beds, including 50 in less than a year with no prospect of reopening,” summarizes Yvan Marguerie, secretary general of the CGT of the CHS. A nursing assistant in the establishment for ten years, he observed this degradation closely: “This represents 38% of the beds in the CHS, which had 260 before 2019. That year, a unit closed, it was to be temporary, it has become final. Last year, two units temporarily closed but have yet to reopen. »
