Citayam Fashion Week has recently become viral and has been widely discussed. The term is given to young people who like to hang out in the BNI City station area, Sudirman, Jakarta.
Because it’s viral, the twin models who dropped out of Asia’s Next Top Model, Valerie and Veronika also seem to be curious and join the catwalk at Citayam Fashion Week. The video of the two walking the catwalk was then uploaded to an Instagram account and went viral.
When interviewed by Wolipop via Whatsapp on Tuesday (19/7/22), Valerie also told her about how she came to the catwalk at Citayam Fashion Week. Valerie admits that initially because she and her twin had content that was deemed appropriate to be made there.

“Initially, we came to the catwalk there because we ourselves had catwalk content with strangers on our TikTok, and strangers were photographed. So, because it is appropriate and the place is hype, we are curious to make catwalk content with strangers there,” said Valerie.
Valerie said that initially she and her twin did not immediately catwalk at the main zebra crossing there. Previously, Valerie had been looking for people who wanted to be challenged to catwalk with her. But after seeing the excitement of people walking the catwalk at the main zebra cross there, Valerie and Veronika just decided to join.

For the clothes worn by the two themselves, they look quite relaxed in a street style style. Valerie explained that what she was wearing was just the bare minimum.
“For our own fashion style, we also try to be inspired by Citayam Fashion Week to look like that, the teenagers who were there. But since we also don’t have long preparations, we really use what’s available,” said Valerie.
Valerie and Veronika chose to look simple in t-shirts and jeans because they also saw a lot of young people there who looked the same. For footwear, Valerie chose to wear sneakers to make her style more street style.
Responding to the viral Citayam Fashion Week, Valerie admitted that she supports the activity because it has many positive sides. Walking the catwalk at Citayam Fashon Week itself is a form of support for Valerie and Veronika.
“Of course we really want to support it because I see a lot of positive sides, even though there were criticisms about cleanliness, then friends there, for example, some didn’t go home, some didn’t go to school, but I think we should still support it by being there. there and support the people who make it,” said Valerie.
According to Valerie, having content creators there can help lift local brands that are worn. In addition, it is also expected to help inspire people who see it. Because it doesn’t have to be expensive and always follows the existing fashion trends, but we can create our own fashion trends.
“We really appreciate those who dare to style themselves by using items that are not expensive but actually compete cheaply. But they can show that they can mix and match according to their style. It shows that we don’t always have to follow fashion trends what else is there, but we can make it our own style,” said Valerie.
While regarding her catwalk video which went viral, Valerie admitted that she did not expect it. He himself initially hesitated and wanted to back off because he was embarrassed after seeing the crowd there.
“As for our video, which finally went viral, we were really happy and we didn’t expect it because at first it was when we got there, when we knew it was really busy, we were also a little hesitant and embarrassed to be honest,” said Valerie.
However, seeing the high appreciation and enthusiasm, Valerie and her twin finally dared to waddle at the main zebra cross there. Even then, both of them felt comfortable after several times making catwalk videos with newcomers at Citayam Fashion Week.
