Convidencia vaccine is effective to be used as a booster with other vaccines

The Strategic Advisory Group of Immunization Experts (SAGE) of the World Health Organization (WHO) recommended the use of Convidecia (Ad5-nCoV) as a primary use and as a reinforcement of regimens of other biologicals.

Studies indicate that a one-dose heterologous regimen with the Ad5-nCoV vaccine, followed by a booster dose of a different vaccine is safe and induces a stronger humoral immune response during the current covid-19 pandemic.

Mexico has a broad portfolio of vaccines of different technologies (mRNA, inactivated virus and viral vectors) that have all been shown to be safe and effective in preventing hospitalization and deaths caused by covid-19.

In recent months, booster vaccination campaigns have been carried out, especially for vulnerable groups, so it is important to communicate that the use of Convidencia (Ad5-nCoV) as a booster to primary vaccination schedules with any other type of vaccine not only safe, but it is also effective in generating a long-term immune response.

The wise recommended its use as a primary scheme (two doses of the same vaccine) as a heterologous (complement to another vaccination scheme)“so the population can receive this vaccine with the certainty of receiving an effective and safe vaccine against covid-19,” according to the company.
