Dominican Republic welcomes until next Friday the Climate Week in Latin America and the Caribbeanwhose opening ceremony was held yesterday, Tuesday, in Santo Domingoonce the meeting of Ibero-American Environment Ministers has concluded.
Organized by the Caribbean country, together with the Framework Convention of the HIM about Climate changethe event opens a space for governments, the private sector, development organizations, youth and civil society to discuss finding solutions, find common ground and forge partnerships for climate action.
The meeting will serve to address the perspectives of the region ahead of COP27, the UN summit on climate change, which will take place in November in the Egyptian city of Sharm el Sheikh, a seaside resort on the shores of the Red Sea in the south of the Sinai Peninsula.
Throughout this week, during which 168 events on the subject will be held, examples of actions that are already being carried out in the different countries of the region will be presented, in order to replicate them to avoid the worst climate effects and build resilient communities.
