USA nominate dressage team for World Championships in Herning –

Now the USA has also named the dressage team that will compete under the Stars and Stripes at the World Championships in Herning.

In alphabetical order, the team consists of the following four couples plus one reserve rider:

  • Katie Duerrhammer (33) with Quartet (14) > Duerrhammer, who comes from Colorado, has only been riding at Grand Prix level since 2021. Duerrhammer has had the Brandenburg Quaterback son bred by ZG Selkemühle GmbH under his saddle since 2020. Previously, he competed in the small tour under the Canadian flag. With Duerrhammer we then headed towards the Grand Prix. Most recently, the two achieved results of a good 70 percent. The last tournament was in Aachen, where they came 21st with 71.456 percent in the Grand Prix of the Nations Cup Tour, but were dropped in the decisive special because of blood in their mouths.
  • Ashley Holzer (58) with Valentine (12) > Ashley Holzer has been a pillar of the Canadian dressage scene since the mid-1980s. She represented her country of birth at the Olympic Games in 1988 (sensational bronze with the team), 2004, 2008 and 2012 as well as at the World Equestrian Games in 2002, 2006 and 2010. She has been riding for the USA since 2017. Since 2017, Holzer has also saddled the Hanoverian Sir Donnerhall daughter Valentine. In 2021, the two made their Grand Prix debut. In March 2022, they achieved their best result to date: 73.630 percent. They gained team experience in Rotterdam, where they placed third in the Grand Prix (72.957) and fifth in the Freestyle (76.420). The team ended up in second place.
  • Adrienne Lyle (37) and Salvino (15) > Already in 2012 Adrienne Lyle qualified with her then top horse Wizard for the Olympic Games in London as a single pair and finished 37th. Wizard also carried her to the World Equestrian Games in Normandy in 2014 (fourth place with the team). But Lyle really got off to a flying start with the Hanoverian Sandro Hit son Salvino, with whom she won team silver at both the World Equestrian Games in Tryon and the Olympic Games in Tokyo. They last started in Aachen, finished second in the Grand Prix of the CDI4*-Tour (76.891), but dropped out of the freestyle because of blood in their mouths. The two are usually the strongest pair on the team.
  • Steffen Peters (57) with Suppenkasper (14) > Whereby the strong couple also applies to Steffen Peters and the KWPN gelding Suppenkasper by Helen Langehanenberg. Spielberg applies. The two were also part of the silver teams in Tryon and Tokyo. And recently won the Grand Prix (74.630) and Freestyle (82.525) at the Schafhof in Kronberg. Peters said the latter was perhaps the best they had ever shown.

First reserve are Alice Tarjan (42) and her nine-year-old Hanoverian mare, Serenade MF, who was born in the USA. Sir Donnerhall, who won the US equivalent of the Louisdor Prize in 2021 and made a name for herself in Wellington this spring. They were also part of the second-placed team in Rotterdam, finishing third in the Grand Prix Special (71.191).

The USA jumping team had previously been named.
