Abandoned baby found

In Buenaventura, Valle del Cauca, there is outrage over the discovery in the last hours of a one-year-old baby inside a garbage bag.

The infant was abandoned on a public road near the park in the Bolívar neighborhood of the port district and, according to the authorities, his limbs were tied.

Inhabitants of that sector noticed something unusual in the bag and heard the cries of the little boy for the abuse he was being subjected to and ended up discovering the macabre actions of his guardians.

Upon finding the child, the community notified the local police to take care of the situation. Uniformed arrived at the site and transferred the minor to a Buenaventura care center.

Physically, the child was in normal condition. However, the fact shocked the agents who attended the case so much that they decided to give the child basic necessities such as diapers, wipes, creams and food.

“Pertinent investigations are initiated to find the location of the minor’s relatives and the competent authorities are informed to restore their rights”said Colonel Ever Yovanni Gómez Reyes, commander of the Valle del Cauca Police Department.

After the outrageous abandonment of the baby in Buenaventura, the authorities urged the community to report any violation of the rights of children and adolescents on line 123 or 141 of the Colombian Institute of Family Welfare (ICBF).

So far the whereabouts of his parents are unknown.
