The forests of the Hérault threatened by outbreaks of fire (©Sdis 34)
Due to the very serious risk of fire in the forests of the Héraultthis Wednesday, the Sdis 34 strongly advises against their access and recalls the important advice to follow.
The risk is very severe – red – in the Minervois-Saint-Chinianais massif, west of Béziers. It is severe -orange- in the other wooded areas of the department, except on a small south-eastern strip of the coast, where yellow dominates, as can be seen on the maps.
Faced with this situation, and while more than 20,000 hectares of forest have already burned in Gironde, and Hérault firefighters have been engaged in recent days on major fires in the Bouches-du-Rhône, Ariège and since yesterday in the Gorges du Tarn (municipality of Vernet in Lozère – 5 machines and 20 helmets), the valuable safety advice and useful are good to remember.
A gesture to avoid: throwing your cigarette butt not extinguished by the window of a car, neither driver nor passengers of course. No BBQ close to the vegetation, no works causing sparks in nature.
